MoonStats
© is a statistical software program for PC.
It has been designed for inexperienced computer users
who have access to a Personal Computer (PC) with
Windows 95 or 98/Me/XP. It is supplied as an
educational and training tool, to be used for
statistics learning and training purposes by
individuals, groups, organisations and institutions.
The simple design of the program allows statistics
beginners to explore the fascinating world of
statistics at the click of a button.
MoonStats incorporates
a spreadsheet, an analysis menu and an output window.
It is designed for the beginner in statistics, but
will also serve the advanced statistics user.
- Univariate
statistics include the mean,
standard deviation, range, and frequency
tables, amongst others.
- Bivariate
statistics include cross-tabulations
with chi-square; correlations; and t tests.
(Linear regression and one-way Anova are
currently being added to the program).
Verbose comments help with the interpretation
and the write-up of the result.
- Graphs
such as pie charts, histograms and
scatterplots are displayed and can be printed
or copied to word processor programs (MSWord,
WordPerfect, etc.)
- A random
calculator makes it easy to generate
sampling lists.
- Example datatsets
allow users to explore the various
statistical options.
Each statistic is accompanied
by result-specific comments on the interpretation of
the statistical result, and provides suggestions on
how to report the results. MoonStats is an essential
and inexpensive tool for students who wish to learn
how to do real statistics on their own.
